Cooking Dominican Republic

Dominican cuisine is a blend of Creole, Spanish and French influences. The typical dish, 'bandera', consists of white rice, red beans, stewed meat, served with salad and fried plantain bananas (platanos fritos). Fish and seafood such as calamari can be found in all of the restaurants. Grouper is often prepared with coconut milk or with a green sauce (coriander, parsley, garlic and olive oil), but for economical reasons, the most popular dish is fried chicken.
