Just like Boca Chica, the town of Juan Dolio does not lack any atmosphere at the weekend. This is compounded by the local hotel owners who, rather than running a half-empty hotel, have special offers for the Dominicans on Friday nights. The coral barrier makes it possible to scuba-dive even though the water is not very deep and numerous water or ground sports (tennis, cycling, etc) can be practiced here. To sum up, activities are available, but only in the day time. At night, the streets are rather quiet and the atmosphere peaceful. The main street offers a number of shops, banks, galleries and local bars with their regulars that are open till late - some of them are nicely decorated and have pool tables, video games, etc. On the whole, Juan Dolio is a pleasant stop for travellers looking for a relaxing time.
