The village of El Limon lies some 6 mi from Las Terrenas and is the best starting point for those wishing to visit this spectacular waterfall. You might feel like an extra in an Indiana Jones film as you make your way over to the waterfall, which is not an easy task but one that is definitely worth the effort! You'll reach the site after a 50 minute horseback ride across the tropical forest mountainside that also involves crossing a ford through a river the villagers use for bathing. Once you reach the summit, at an altitude of over 360m, you'll enjoy the panoramic views of the forest and the ocean before embarking upon the last 15 minutes of the journey on foot back down the hill. The spectacular 40m high waterfall is simply breathtaking and you can even bathe in the clear, fresh waters here at the heart of the jungle. If you're feeling courageous, you might like to brave the spray to let the powerful jets of water concealing the entrances to various little caves massage your shoulders.
