The beautiful 9th century Mediterranean Alexandria, is a cosmopolitan city that has conserved the glorious buildings with their vintage façades. You must visit the the Greco-Roman museum (rare collection of terracotta Tanagra figurine found in the city's necropolis) and the catacombs of Kom esh-Shuqafa (three levels of funeral galleries from the 1st and 2nd century, a unique example of Egyptian and Greco-Roman art influences intertwined). The promenade that runs along the sea is strongly recommended. Between the Qaytbay Fort and the Ras et-Tin Palace, in the popular alleys of Anfouchi, you will find the old sailors district and its various small cafés and fish restaurants. Two or three days are enough to discover this wonderful city.
