Climate Egypt

Egypt has a Mediterranean climate on the coasts and in the delta (Alexandria), a semi-desert climate in Cairo and desert climate in the south (Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea). That is why winter (from November to February) is the best period to visit the country. The weather, nice everywhere, is then ideal for a cruise on the Nile or lake Nasser, discovering the Pharaoh relics: the days are warm and sunny (15 to 25°C) and the nights fresh.
Cairo in summer is suffocating, the heat is intense in the south (sometimes up 50°C in the Valley of the Kings) yet the air is dry. This makes the heat bearable, not recommended to people who can't stand the heat.
For a holiday on the Red Sea, choose the months between June and September: the water temperature is between 24 and 28°C, on land between 30 to 40°C.
Avoid March and April, the months of the Khamsin, an infernal wind that carries sand and dust.
