El Gouna, Egypt

El Gouna is a seaside resort stretching 5 mi² created from scratch less than ten years ago by one of the largest fortunes in Egypt, Onsi Sawiris. Built along the Gulf of Suez, on the east coast of the Arabian desert, it owes its name to the lagoons ( "gouna" in Egyptian) artificially dug in its soil, long arm of the sea interfering in drylands. Different architects have given much care to its construction, while especially respecting the environment. All hotels in the resort are owned by Onsi Sawiris. They are therefore not in competition and provide easy access to services. The clientele of each can benefit from all of the others' the facilities, under the same conditions for everyone.
Boats and buses serve several hotels in the resort at a regular frequency. A service of coaches goes to Hurghada, 21 miles in the south. This is where you will land pending the opening of an international airport in El Gouna.

pros

  •  Few boats (5) cross Lake Nasser
  •  A rich cultural heritage

cons
