As the centuries go by, the longest river in the world has seen its shores become home to a growing population, that brought along the implantation of an original fauna and flora. Nowadays the Nile is mainly home to catfish, Nile perch and tilapias. On the shores, you can find in some spots Egyptian lotus flowers, and reed in most parts. Ornithological fauna is also very present. Cattle egret, kingfishers, hoopoes, and reed-warblers all share the land. South of Egypt, Lake Nasser is, amongst other species, populated by crocodiles and soft carapace turtles.
