The pantheon of Egyptian gods has been immortalised in the form of small figurines made from alabaster, basalt or soap stone and...resin imitations found at all of the Temple entrances (5 to 6 pounds a piece). You will also find some beautiful cotton pieces: a table cloth with 12 napkins (11 pounds) ; t-shirts (4 pounds) ; cheche (1 to 3 pounds;).
To make sure you bring back real papyrus, go to Dr. Ragab Institutes, in Luxor and Aswan .
Buy silver and gold jewellery (cheap), turquoise and lapis-lazuli, and the unconditional cartridge with your name engraved in hieroglyphs, in Luxor (it is cheaper than Cairo). In Cairo, on the other hand, you can find beautiful copper pieces (trays and shishas), marquetry and multi-colour glass art. For spices: choose the Aswan souk.
Shops are generally open from 9 AM. to 10 PM and later, in tourist zones, every day except Sunday.
