Around 4000 B.C., the country is populated by farmers that also live form cattle and hunting.
Around 600 B.C., a meteor digs the Kaali crater on the island of Saaremaa.
Around 750 B.C., the first Viking counters are established.
In 1030, Iaroslav the Wise, prince of Kiev, builds Tartu.
In 1158, the Hanse is created. German trade takes over the Viking trade.
Early thirteenth century, Estonia is progressively Christianised.
At the end of the fifteenth century, Russian trade takes over German trade.
In 1629, Sweden rules Estonia.
In 1710, The country comes under Russian domination.
From 1920 to 1939, Estonia is recognised as independent. Estonia is then attached to the Soviet Union.
In 1991, Estonia restores independence.
In September 2003, the Estonian population votes in favour of the integration to the European Union.
On the 1st May 2004, Estonia joins the 25 members of the European Union.
