The exhibition Keith Haring: 1978 - 1982 is running until 8 July 2012 at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States.
It is the first large-scale exhibition to explore the early career of one of the best known 20th century American artists.
It includes 155 works on paper, numerous experimental videos and over 150 archival objects, such as sketchbooks, journals, posters and subway drawings.
His work responded to the New York City street culture of the 80s and graffiti art in particular. The exhibition chronicles Haring's career from his arrival in New York to the start of his public and political artwork.
Haring died of AIDS-related complications and the Keith Haring Foundation was established in 1989 to assist AIDS-related and children's charities.
