Review: 1001 Nights Hotel

Kingdom of kitsch also called "Alf Leila Wa Leila", the small complex with turrets and colourful domes is unique in Hurghada. The hotel bears its name and proudly displays its artificiality and its fantastic design. Although the beach is far, it is spacious, its several facilities and the variety of its services are attractive.

The 1001 et nuits is located 9 miles south of Hurghada on the road to Safaga. The international airport is just 6 miles away. It is one of the few hotels not to be located on the seafront.

The majority of hotel guests, often in their middle age, are of German nationality (half), the rest is divided broadly between English-speaking and Russian speaking tourists. They stay either on "all-inclusive" or half board. As for entertainment, the show changes every night of the week. The Havana club, a trendy place in Hurghada to spend the evening, is located exactly between the 1001 nuits and the Dana Beach.

Renovated in 2006, this 1999 hotel is split down in the middle by a main road where you will find shops, medical practice and other services . From there on, you will discover, through the porches numerous spaces and their separate universes. In each of them, there is a swimming pool, its atmosphere and its decoration often being strictly oriental. All in all, the club has 5 swimming pools, including 2 heated ones and 2 pools for children. The atmosphere is unique because the club, where greenery is lacking, is surrounded by walls. As a result, you will look in vain for a little opening to the immensity of the beach offered by other hotels.

A son et lumiere show narrating the history of Egypt starts every evening at 9 p.m and lasts 1 hour. It is free for customers of "all inclusive" packages. For clients from outside, the show costs 15 euros. More than 1000 people can attend the "show" in the amphitheatre which is quite impressive by its excessiveness. At 10 p.m., spectators can attend at least one festive evening. The final applause sounds at 11 p.m. In the background of the scene, a huge sphinx with pharaohs impresses the visitors.

The hotel has a total of 406 rooms. The standard rooms are 30 m² with a balcony overlooking a swimming pool. The wood used for storage does not seem high quality. Inside, it is simple, functional : tiled floor, firm bedding, television (20 channels), air conditioning, a mini bar (empty) and telephone line (for international calls). All the rooms have a shower, a large mirror and branded skin care products, and the small bathrooms have nothing very special. You should not dwell on the missing finishing touches. The common safe at the reception is paying.

Two main restaurants with a terrace, offer respectively 350 and 200 seats. Children can enjoy a small buffet corner. An Italian restaurant a la carte completes the offers of the hotel. Rather pleasant, they have different decoration. The breakfast is served between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., but until 11 a.m. for latecomers. Lunch takes place from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 06:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Located in various locations on the site, they allow you not to feel smothered by too many people at table at the same time. Also, there are at least three bars.

You must walk 900 m to get to the beach, which belongs to the Dana Beach hotel. A free shuttle commutes between the sea and the 1001 nuits every half an hour. The edge of the beach of the Dana is approximately 700 m including the marina. ?t is shallow so you have to walk a long way out to be finally able to swim in the turquoise waters of the Red Sea. Seats are put on higher ground to facilitate the work of life guards. Quite overcrowded, the beach can be noisy because of the music. Deckchairs, sunshades, screens are dispatched on the sand (coarse). The wind makes it ideal for the practice of various water sports. In addition : a diving club.
