Please, note that the hotel has Wi-Fi Internet connection in the rooms, which are located beside the swimming pool, the bar and the residential places. Since its renovations in 2002 and 2006, the Alamanda has displayed Creole roofs with corrugated iron grey and white pelmets. Quite a busy place, the reception has a polished wooden counter. At the rear, you can access the swimming pool and the relaxation areas. With an area of 1,075 ft², the swimming pool is long enough to swim a few laps, provided there is no crowd! You can take the opportunity to linger in the park, amid numerous flowers, well maintained but yet in a limited area encircling the swimming pool. Equipped with a paved sun lounge and a lawn planted with coconut trees, it is a great place to sunbathe or relax in the shade on a deckchair.

The 58 rooms of the Alamanda are housed in two one-storey L-shaped buildings. As for the view, a fourth of the rooms overlook the swimming pool, another fourth overlook the gardens and the rest of the rooms face the hotel entrance. Small (about 130 ft²) but functional, the rooms extend to a balcony with a table and two chairs. The room's design has some nice touches, such as a wall mirror framed with brass, tones of red which enhance the effect of the bright tiles. Individually controlled air conditioning, a telephone for direct international dialling and satellite TV (broadcasting 10 channels including 3 local of La Réunion) are all provided. The bathrooms are equipped with a shower cabin. The safe, available for free, is provided at the hotel's reception.

Overlooking the swimming pool, the restaurant (labelled "Restaurateurs of France") offers a simple and friendly atmocphere in which to have a meal, amid wooden furniture and tables decorated with flowers. Served buffet style, breakfast includes cereals, pastries and a variety of fresh bread. For lunch and dinner, the service is a la carte with a menu of the day. Tuna tartare is the specialty of the restaurant, and there is a varied menu which presents meats, fishes and salads in the traditional tastes of the island. It is possible to have a quick snack such as a salad or a hamburger, or order a specialty such as curry, acras, rougail, etc. In the afternoon and evening, the restaurant also serves snacks at the bar, open non-stop from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

You can access the Hermitage beach by crossing a road and walking about 655 ft along a gravel path. The beach, stretching for several miles between Saint-Gilles and La Saline, offers a pleasant setting for relaxation and sports - jogging, cycling, mountain bike... thanks to a seafront promenade next to sand and lush vegetation. Bordered by filaos and tamarind trees, a broad band of white sand sinks gently into the lagoon: a shallow bathing area, where many fish and coral dwell (explore this submarine world with fins, mask and snorkel). When swimming, pay attention to the coral debris that can hurt your feet. If possible, it is better not to wear sandals because they cause damage to the fragile ecosystem of the lagoon. As the beach is public, shunshades and deckchairs are not provided. Don't forget to bring towels and snorkeling equipment with you in order to take advantage of the setting. On the other side, there are picnic areas extremely popular with local residents of La Réunion where they spend weekends with their families.
