Beware that the customers of the Club Med Cancun Yucatan are mainly North American, 70%, compared to the seaside resort of Cancun.
The village is marketed on the basis of a full-board and "all inclusive" service. Eyal Amzallag, the village's manager and his entire team of professional animators, should contribute fully to the success of your stay. Your children are fully supported throughout the day with a multitude of diverse activities to occupy them, in the Mini-Club Med and the Junior Club.
In the evening, musical bands and DJs put you on fire until the end of the night at the bar nightclub Soluna or the lounge by the pool Las Velas. For their part, the animators offer a show of their own once a week at the Maya theatre lounge.
The Discovery Space offers 18 excursions including a free one to the Mayan site of El Meco, only 45 minutes from the village: a good introduction to the Maya world with the assistance of a professional guide, before visiting the most spectacular sites of Tulum or Chichen Itza. These tours are divided according to 4 criteria: cultural, eco-nature, getaway and active.
The area is relatively extensive, a small train travels regularly on the small road through the village, from the beach dedicated to water activities facing the tennis courts and the Las Cazuelas restaurant up to the reception located near the main beach and the tapas restaurant La Pergola. In case of heavy tropical downpours, which can sometimes reach the Yucatan, umbrellas are wisely scattered in large pottery in different places around the village.
The interior and the exterior decoration, one of the strengths of the Club Med Cancun Yucatan, were designed by the firm Marc Hertrich Studio, integrating perfectly crafts and local materials in a contemporary design with an eye for detail and consistency of each moment: a great success.
A lodging tip
The customers in search of luxury and privacy can stay in one of the 58 rooms, including 18 suites of the Jade Villa, a true resort in the resort, including a dedicated concierge service and free access to the Internet. For families, choose one of the 70 rooms and remember the formula Club Med Baby Welcome, dedicated to babies under 2 years, with equipment for childcare available in the room (cot, stroller, high chair, baby pots, blender...). Prefer then the rooms located in the buildings adjacent to the mini-club.
Remember also that two rooms are specially equipped for the disabled guests.

Established in 1976, before the tourist boom of Cancun, the Club Med Cancun Yucatan had naturally chosen the best place on the coast to rise, a private peninsula shaped as an arc, between the lagoon and the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Just opposite, you can see the coastal hotels, buildings without much charm joined to each other. Each building in the village bears the name of a stone from Mexico, such as jade (the most valuable for the high-end villa), obsidian or opal. In addition to the two small pools of the mini-club, the village has a large swimming pool located between the lagoon and the main beach, surrounded by a modern lounge space, Las Velas, with sofas canopy to relax, next to the bar. Guarded from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (bathing prohibited beyond that time), the swimming pool is surrounded by numerous wooden deck chairs with mattresses and parasols. The towels are available on the spot (near the bar).
Children 4 to 10 years may have fun at the Mini-Club Med and teens aged 11 to 17 years should worship the Junior Club, with the new concept Passworld (mixing tables, video games, Internet access, MP3 players...) - the parents are excluded. All will try out the joys of the circus instead (a tent housing flying trapeze, trampoline and juggling activities), located on an island connected to the village by buildings on stilts. Located opposite the fitness centre equipped with the lastest facilities, the spa centre offers excellent massages, including Indian, oriental, Mediterranean and Swedish. When weather permits, namely it happens often, you can go directly on the seafront under one of the 3 palapas (a straw hut of palm leaves) located at the foot of the Jade Villa. The spa was expanded in 2007 and has been offering high-end services branded "Comfort", a large Italian brand of cosmetics since. Nestling in the heart of the village, which forms an arc around its coastline, the natural lagoon is a body of water ideal for practicing water-skiing, from where you can depart to the island hosting the circus. Remember, finally, that the lagoon is home to the village mascot, Albert, a crocodile that you will surely have the opportunity to pay tribute to on the edge of the driveway leading to the fitness centre and the boutique Club Med, his favourite location: perhaps additional motivation to avoid falling during your water skiing practice...

The decoration is neat and original, with for instance a surprising painting inspired by a sea fan motif found on the beach and silkscreened on a background made of gold leaves. All rooms have a balcony or a wooden terrace overlooking the lagoon, the infinite ocean or the sea (on the coast of Cancun). A sitting area with ? design sofa in flashy shades is offered and sticks of wood acting as a table allow you to relax in front of the television or the terrace.
The bathroom includes a large tropical shower in open air, with a flexible pommel, a clothes line, a washbasin and two large mirrors. Personal skin care products, handkerchiefs (in a block of white porcelain design), beach towels and hair dryers are provided, and toilets are separated. However, only the suites have a bath tub. The rooms also have a table with an ingenious mechanism revealing a computer with a screen, a keyboard and a mouse, ready to run and connected to the Internet. But remember to take adapters, otherwise it will cost you $ 4 at the shop.

You have a choice of 3 restaurants with unique concept, having a common vision overlooking the Caribbean Sea: The Hacienda, the main restaurant in the heart of the village, houses 6 dining rooms decorated with specific decoration corresponding to a traditional house of the Mexican countryside: the cuisine, the large lounge, the dining room, the library, the winter garden and the terrace are ventilated for smokers. Each room has tables of different sizes for 2, 4, 6 or 12 people, according to the moods of each. The atmosphere is hushed and no hubbub does interfere with the conversation. Both large canvases of the dining room, representing the archaeological sites of Chitzen Itza and Tulum, were painted following the ancient engravings mastered by the painter Ramon Ruiz. The library, with its starry ceiling, ship models, astrolabes, globes and other long views, talks about the universe, the cosmos, travel and oceans. The winter garden, with its fireplace and its decoration of British style invites you for a glass of brandy and a cigar, although you may not smoke. All these halls of unique atmosphere surround a large central space, including many and varied buffets of Mexican and international specialities served at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everywhere, there are places of culinary shows a la minute proposing a personalised and well presented service. You can access the hacienda with a beautiful staircase, but everything was intended for elderly or disabled persons, who may take the elevator.
Las Cazuelas is recognisable from afar with his immense roof, made following the techniques of the Mexican Palapas in rosewood, tsalam, zapote and other local wood. Inside, 2 large walls of traditional tiling (talavera) from Puebla have been specially commissioned for the occasion. This large airy straw hut can also handle the noise of conversation and avoid the hubbub. You will enjoy sumptuous food at breakfast and lunch, and upon reservation, the dinner menu offers a sophisticated cuisine of Mexican specialities with a French touch. Guacamole, tacos and enchiladas alongside the fois gras: a pure delight. The meat, marinated in Mexican spices like the fish is tender as butter.
La Pergola, the tapas restaurant, located opposite the reception has a beautiful panoramic terrace. It serves tapas from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., and there you can eat barbecue all day long.
Cocktail fans can sip their favorite drink in 4 bars located at the lounge of the swimming pool of Las Velas, the Pergola, the Chispa (attached to Las Cazuelas) or at the nightclub bar of the Soluna.

The Club Med Cancun Yucatan offers the opportunity to vary the pleasures along its three beaches: opposite the swimming pool, the vast sandy and white beach, guarded from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., is perfectly equipped with plastic deck chairs, parasols made of palm leaves and a shower. Ideal for relaxation and swimming, it opens onto the concrete hotel zone of Cancun. As for the Jade Villa, you will find a centre for snorkeling along a small creek, where an animator will guide you towards the best places to observe aquatic life. You are provided with a palm, masks and tuba for free with a lifejacket and a bracelet giving access to protected marine park (free for clients of the Club). Finally, on the other side of Las Cazuelas restaurant, the beach overlooking the infinite ocean is the ideal framework for carrying out water activities such as canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing and catamaran.
