The Filitheyo Island Resort is the only hotel in the Faafu atoll. Some sea turtles come to lay their eggs here and dolphins skirt the coral reef.

This triangular-shaped island is 2,952 feet long and 394 feet at the widest part. Built in 1999, the hotel is the only building on the site and is classified as a four star hotel which is open all year long. The bungalows are scattered all around the island, along the beaches, isolated by new plantations, except for those built on piers. The hotel's other infrastructures - such as the reception, the shops, the library (with Internet access) the bar and the main restaurant - are located on the southern part of the island. The Mandara Spa offers a varied range of massages and body treatments. The swimming pool in the form of a lagoon, neighbouring the Sunset Bar Restaurant, is located near the villas on piers, in the western area. In the centre of the island, the lush plant life (palm trees, coconut palms, trees and exotic plants) gives an impression of freshness and intimacy. Further away, a corner of the island is reserved for the machinery compartments and for the staff headquarters.

The building's 125 rooms are distributed in four categories. The wooden bungalows, under a palm roof, all provide direct sea access. Each villa is equipped with air conditioning, telephone, television, compact hi-fi system, mini bar, safe and hairdryer. They are divided up in the following way: 84 superior villas, 10 family villas, 15 luxury villas, 16 villas on piers. All are equipped with a traditional Maldivian bathroom with a shower outside. Those on piers are equipped with a closed bathroom with shower and jacuzzi. Each bungalow has an individual terrace.

A main buffet-style restaurant offers exotic and international dishes. It was built under a large structure opened to trade winds. Very pleasant, it has no doors or windows to let the air and freshness of the sea circulate. All the furniture is made of wood. The other restaurant is located by the swimming pool. Every Wednesday, it organises a barbecue on the beach. Besides meat and fish, it offers good vegetarian specialties. Two bars offer a wide range of cocktails. One of them, located in the swimming pool, lets you cool your feet in the water.

The island is surrounded by fine-sand beaches, the numerous palm trees and sunshades offer necessary areas of shade during the hottest times. Deckchairs are also available to the clientele. Those who wish to dive near the hotel will not be disappointed, the sea beds lining the beach being very rich with a multitude of fish nesting. The site is thus diverse enough for snorkelling amateurs (mask and snorkel). The Wermer Lau diving centre offers a PADI qualification and several fixed price excursions to nearby sites. A small deserted island was also laid out near the Filatheyo. It makes up a more isolated dream area where couples can spend the day and even the night. Advance reservations only.
