One of the world's greatest shows and an absolute must-see, is the Commemorative Ceremony for Mevlana, the great Sufic saint (1207-1273). More than a million people descend on Konya, the ancient Seljuk capital, for the Whirling Dervishes Festival (Sema).
Mevlana taught complete tolerance, positive thinking, awareness of God through love and union with God through dance. At his Mausoleum in Konya,

Request a room on the top floor to the rear of the hotel. They have balconies (view over the town). If they are unavailable, choose from rooms 301 to 309, 401 to 409 or 501 to 509: these are the best situated.
15 rooms are equipped with extra beds for families.
The safes are available at the reception.

Built in 1988 and renovated in 2000-2001, the Grand Savur is a charmless modern 5-storey building (with lift). However, once you enter, the hotel is clearly very well maintained. The lobby, bar and lounges are built over 3 different levels on the ground floor, creating a beautiful space. The lobby is painted pale yellow in the style of old Ottoman residences, and decorated with French-inspired antique furniture. Below the lobby is the bar room. The decor is nicely done here too: cashew and marble and, on the walls, old photos of Istanbul with ancient Ottoman engravings. In summer the bar opens a small terrace directly overlooking the children's garden situated behind the hotel. The restaurant is a pleasant bright space situated on a mezzanine, above the bar.

The rooms were renovated in 2005. Like the lobby, the rooms are in yellow shades. They are clean but poorly decorated. They are carpeted and furnished with wood furnishings. They face the children's garden or the street. The level of comfort is acceptable: adjustable air conditioning, telephone with direct international line, satellite TV, safe and small mini bar. The bathroom has a bath or shower, toilet and hair dryer.

You can get to the restaurant, which is on the mezzanine above the bar, by a pretty spiral staircase in wrought iron. A large bay window, overlooking the children's garden, lights up the room. Breakfast and dinner are standard and are served as a buffet. You can also dine in the hotel with a single menu including soup, a salad, a Turkish dish, a dessert and a quarter litre of wine. If you would like to have lunch in the hotel, you must make do with the room service (24h) which offers different sandwiches and drinks.
Opening times: breakfast from 7.30 am to 10.30 am, lunch from 12.30 pm to 2 pm, and dinner from 7 pm to 9.30 pm.
