At 440 West 57th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues. Next to Central Park. The hotel is 14 miles from La Guardia airport, 18 miles from JFK, and 14 miles from Newark. It is located close to metro lines A, B, C, D, 1 and 9.
You will find an ATM machine and an Internet access terminal in the hall. The hotel has a big swimming pool with a huge wooden terrace on the roof, but unfortunately it is only open during summer. A vending machine for beverages is available on each floor. The hotel does not have laundry service. A parking lot is available for an extra charge.

Built in 1964 and renovated in 1997, the Holiday Inn Midtown occupies a building with common architecture and interior decor lacking charm. Nevertheless, it offers nice dimensions, a spacious and bright lobby (especially the bar, lit by a daylight shaft), clean and well kept facilities. Furthermore, the hotel has a lot of facilities for a New York hotel because it offers a beautiful open-air swimming pool bordered by a huge solarium terrace, both open during summer. It offers a well-equipped fitness centre, which needs a bit of updating. In brief, a middle of the range hotel without great charm, but comfortable and friendly. It would be an excellent stop in the American metropolis.

With 323 ft², the 600 rooms of the Holiday Inn are rather big for a New York hotel. The decor, totally neutral, will not attract crowds, but the rest is nice anyway. They are bright, and all have individual air conditioning, colour television (19 channels, one is HBO, and is free), a double telephone line (two handsets, and one answering machine), an ironing table and an iron, but no safe (available at the front desk for free), no minibar. The bathrooms are each equipped with a bathtub and are quite dull. One last point - soundproofing between rooms is not very efficient. Room-service is offered but only during the day from 7am to 11pm.

If the bar of the lobby has an open, bright environment, the same is not true for the "Via Strada", an Italian restaurant situated to the rear of it. The latter lacks windows, and therefore, natural light, but it counters this with its beautiful dimensions and plain, pleasant decor. The food, essentially Italian specialties, is adequate but a little expensive. $ 12 for pastas, and $ 19 per dish.
