The hotel overlooks the lagoon, 1.5 miles to the north of Saint-Leu. The airport at Saint-Denis is 30 miles away. For the transfer, expect about an hour and a half or two hours depending on traffic.

It is not possible to swim in the lagoon situated below the hotel. Indeed, it is full of sea urchins and the shallow water makes bathing impossible. The nearest beach is that of Saint-Leu (1.5 miles away). It is important to make sure your package includes a rent-a-car. Otherwise, plan to rent a car in order to be able to easily get around the area. As for activities, the surrounding hills offer you an opportunity to practise paragliding, canyoning and, of course, trekking (on foot, mountain bike or by 4X4).

12.5/20 Hotel Overview

Built in 1996 and renovated in 2003, then expanded in 2005, the Iloha consists of bungalows with sharp-pointed roofs with wooden shingles, spread over an area of 7 acres planted with tropical trees. While emphasising the beauty of exotic woods of different shades, the reception exudes warmth and cheerfulness and is graced with rattan lounges in striped blue and white fabrics with its panels decorated in local art objects. The pool is located just below the reception, facing the lagoon (and the road too, unfortunately). Of semi-Olympic size, it allows you to swim several lengths without problems. All around, the sun lounge, which is paved, is equipped with deckchairs and sunshades. Towels are also available. A part of the sun lounge was extended on one side where there are tables and chairs overlooking the ocean and the swimming pool. As for activities, two tennis courts provide opportunities to improve your services and backhand.

15/20 accommodation

The 64 lodgings in the Iloha are divided as follows: 14 standard rooms, 20 luxury bungalows, 20 superior class bungalows and 10 family bungalows able to accommodate 4 to 6 people. The latter have a kitchenette with a microwave. As for the view, one third of all lodgings overlook the lagoon, another third overlook the gardens and the last third are at the rear, facing the hill. A terrace with garden furniture in teak will assure your privacy while getting some fresh air. The interior decoration - uncluttered - enlarges the space. walls, beige and ochre tiles, wrought iron furniture... It is a pleasure to stay in these rooms, which provide a high level of comfort. Individual air conditioning, a stocked mini-bar, direct telephone for international dialling, satellite television (14 channels) and a safe (for free) are provided in each room. The bathrooms are a bit rustic but impeccably clean and have a hair dryer, personal skin care products and a shower or a bathtub.

14/20 Food and drink

The restaurant consists of two parts. The interior room, oriented towards the swimming pool and the lagoon, is arranged with armchairs and tables made of rattan. The outdoor terrace, equipped with garden furniture in vibrant colours, is located beside the swimming pool. In this welcoming setting you can have breakfast and lunch outdoors. The abundant breakfast buffet offers cereals, buns, pastries, cold cuts, cheese and fresh fruits. For lunch and dinner, the menu offers typical Creole recipes, such as chicken curry, or more international dishes such as pasta with seafood.

12/20 Beach

The nearest beach is located in Saint-Leu, 1.5 miles from the hotel. Originally made up of both volcanic and coral rocks, the beach has black and white sand. As it is a public beach, no special facilities are provided. You should not forget to take along a towel and sunshade if you want to bask on the sand. For those who request it, the hotel provides equipment for snorkelling (fins, mask and snorkel). In proximity, there are water sports centres offering diving and game fishing courses.
