Review
The Kuramathi Blue Lagoon is suitable for medium-sized budgets. The hotel offers quality comfort, refined lodging, especially with respect to its bungalows on piers. The lack of infrastructures is compensated by the joint occupancy with the Kuramathi Cottage and Club. In the end, everything is there, with several metres of very pleasant walking space through beautiful plant life.
Advantages
- The hotel is the closest one to the sandbank.
- The delicious and refined grill restaurant
Disadvantages
- The distances between the infrastructures of the three hotels
- The beach in front of the bungalows is mediocre
Price and availability of the Hotel
The island of Kuramathi is located on the Rashdoo atoll North of the Ari Nord atoll, 15 min by sea plane and 1 hour and 45 minutes by speed boat from Male. The Kuramathi Blue Lagoon is the island's last hotel, to the West, after the Kuramathi Village and Kuramathi Cottage Club and Spa hotels.
Kuramathi is the only island of Maldives that has three separate hotels. All three belong to Universal Resorts and are managed by the company. The quality of the Kuramathi Blue Lagoon is the middle of the three on Kuramathi island; it is the most popular for all-inclusive. The clients are free to roam in each of the hotels.
Underwater diving:
The Rashdoo Atoll Divers underwater diving centre offers classes for all levels in English using the PADI, CMAS and NAUI methods. The coral reef is 40 m from the beach. 20 underwater diving sites are between a 5-minute and 1 hour trip. Underwater diving at night is possible, especially around jetsoms. The sites are all well-known for their Manta rays, turtles, hammerhead sharks and barracudas.

Built in 1979, the Blue Lagoon is a beautiful, pleasant hotel with nice, comfortable rooms and a reception area, a bar and a nice grill restaurant by the sea. The welcome there is very warm. Clients can use the swimming pool, spa, fitness room and tennis court of the Kuramathi Cottage and Spa. They also have access to water sports, as well as Internet access and the television room...
Karaoke evenings and music concerts are organised several times a week.

The hotel has 20 pier bungalows, 36 beach bungalows. The pier bungalows are very pleasant. All the rooms are decorated in wood, refined, warm, and equipped with individual air conditioning, mini-bar, direct telephone with international calling, and a safe box. The bathrooms have a double basin and a shower in the Water Bungalows and bathtub in the beach villas. They all have hair dryers. From the terrace of the Water Bungalows, you can get to the sea by a small stairwell. The view is magnificent. The water is translucent and the fish, big and small, swim all over the place. From the finished terrace of the Beach Village, the sea view is not too clear as it is obstructed by trees.

The hotel has one main restaurant, the Blue Lagoon Restaurant, offering buffet or table service for all three meals. The Laguna Grills is a very refined little restaurant open for dinner by the sea where we had the pleasure of tasting exceptional food. The grilled meats and fish are delicious. The service is impeccable, and the welcome particularly warm. The Blue Lagoon Coffee Shop offers a snack service and Asian and international dishes.

In front of the bungalows, the beach has white sand but is not very clean even if it is cleaned every day. The water is translucent, but contains some rocks. Very close to the hotel, there is a magnificent sandbank, not equipped with deckchairs...
