Review: Kuramathi Village Hotel

A simple hotel that is located on the only island of the Maldives with three hotels. The Kuramathi Village allows you to benefit from the infrastructures of the island's other hotels at a more upscale level (spa, piscine, refined cuisine, etc.). A good way to feel upscale while not spending a fortune.

The island of Kuramathi is located on the Rashdoo atoll, north of the North Ari atoll, 15 min by sea plane and 1 hour and 45 minutes b speed boat from Male. The Kuramathi Village is the island's first hotel, in the East, after the Kuramathi Cottage Club and Spa and Kuramathi Blue Lagoon hotels.

The Kuramathi Village is located on the only island of the Maldives that has three separate hotels. All three belong to Universal Resorts and are managed by the company. The Kuramathi Village is the simplest hotel of the three on the Kuramathi island. The clients are free to roam in each of the hotels. The hotel operates as all-inclusive. We advise you against going on a speed boat. When the sea is rough, it's hellish. In such cases, take a sea plane if you have the means: a unique experience. Underwater diving: The Rashdoo Atoll Divers underwater diving centre offers classes for all levels in English using the PADI, CMAS and NAUI methods The coral reef is 40 m from the beach. 20 underwater diving sites are between a 5-minute and 1 hour trip. Underwater diving at night is possible, especially around jetsoms. The sites are all well-known for their Manta rays, turtles, hammerhead sharks and barracudas.

The island measures 1 mile lengthwise. Built in 1979, the Kuramathi Village has 160 rooms. Its reception area is rather big. Its Fung Bar welcomes you from 9:00 a.m. until the last client; the bar is original, in the form of a boat. It has a ping-pong table. The Kuramathi Village is a simple hotel with few infrastructures but it does redeem itself by sharing space with the island's other two hotels. In fact, clients can enjoy the swimming pool, spa and other services of the Kuramathi Cottage Club and Spa (see the other hotel brochures)...

The Kuramathi Village has 83 deluxe, 33 superior and 35 standard rooms. It offers simple lodging. The rooms are sparsely but carefully decorated. Each one has a terrace. The beds have flower-petal bedspreads. They have each individual air conditioning and direct telephone with international calling. All the Deluxe and Superior rooms are equipped with a mini-bar. A safe box is available at the front desk. There is no television in the bedrooms. The rooms have bathrooms with an indoor and/or outdoor shower. The Superior rooms have the advantage of having a bathtub.

The Kuramathi Village has one main restaurant that offers a buffet. The welcome there is not always the most welcoming, and the food is mediocre. Fortunately, however, the Kuramathi Village does offer you two other restaurants, like its Coffee Shop, facing the sea, that serves Asian and international snacks and dishes from 9:00 a.m. to midnight. An Indian restaurant offers a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian dishes. A grill restaurant will awaken your taste buds with various grilled dishes.

The beach has white sand. It is not very large but is still very pleasant. Seats are available on the beach. The water is translucent, contains no rocks, and there is space for swimming.
