Review: La Maison Arabe Hotel
Very popular, the Maison Arabe offers luxury and refinement of an oriental style. This former riad enjoys a privileged location in the heart of the medina, while still having a large garden in the palm grove, housing a swimming pool and a cooking school.
Advantages
- The location in the medina.
- The interior decoration, superb.
- The size and arrangement of the rooms.
- The Moroccan cuisine and cooking classes.
Disadvantages
- The property is divided into two parts, so you must take a shuttle to get from one to another.
- Although full of charm, la Maison Arabe remains a place not really suitable enough for people travelling with young children.

The Maison Arabe is located in the medina, very close to the Bab Doukkala mosque. Impossible to get lost, unlike in most riads, because the way is signposted from the entrance of the old city. You will need just 10 minutes to reach the Djemaa el Fna square on foot. For transfers to the airport, it takes approximately 15 minutes by car.
To make the lives of its hosts easier, the Maison Arabe has set up a shuttle service between the medina and the palm grove where it stretches across a .2-acre garden. It is here that the swimming pool is located, surrounded by greenery, and an authentic Moroccan cooking school. The hotel also has a guarded car park, something rather rare in the centre of town.

A reputed restaurant since 1940, the Maison Arabe is now a charming hotel visited by many celebrities and loyal clients. Great fan of art and antiques, Fabrizio Ruspoli, the owner of the premises, entrusted to some artisans the task of restoring the true riad in a traditional respect : tadelakt walls, cedar ceilings, bejmat floors ... The way that it is created makes it look like a real museum, gathering ancient objects and beautiful craft objects. It is around two patios, full of flowers, that the 13 rooms are arranged, located on the floors. The ground floor houses a traditional-style hammam, offering treatments based on natural products and essential oils, the restaurant and a succession of lounges with an intimate atmosphere. 10 minutes away from there , the customers of the Maison Arabe can also benefit from a superb private garden, with a beautiful swimming pool and a kasbah where real "dadas" provide classes to teach typically Moroccan cooking. Most ingrediants are, obviously, picked in the organic garden of la Maison.

The rooms and the suites of la Maison Arabe each have Arabic architecture and different furniture. Therefore it is up to you to choose between having a fireplace or a private terrace, rooms that are duplex or connecting, rooms with a shower or jacuzzi ... Their decoration, personalised and particularly successful, is an explosion of colours and materials that give them a rather oriental atmosphere worthy of a tale of Thousand and one nights. Particularly large for this type of hotel, all rooms have a complete set of amenities, including air conditioning and heating, satellite TV, a safe, a mini-bar and telephone with fax / Internet connection. The bathrooms, all marble or granite, are the same, both in terms of comfort and decoration .

Once frequented by celebrities such as Churchill and Hemingway, la Maison Arabe has long remained one of the most famous gourmet addresses in Marrakech. Renovated with brilliance, the restaurant now occupies a large room with oriental charm where you will admire the beautiful ceiling, painted by hand, inspired by an Iranian mosque. The hushed ambience of the place is particularly good for romantic dinners, where you can exclusively Moroccan cuisine served with great refinement, and served "a la carte". It is also possible to have lunch or dinner in a caïdale tent located at the poolside, in the annex of the Maison Arabe. Nearby is the kasbah, where cooking classes are taught.
