Review: Le Palais Rhoul Hotel

Do we even need to present the "Palais", one of the most expensive hotels in Marrakech? Its unusual setting, its high-end service and its lush greenery in the heart of a palm grove, makes it the preferred destination for international jet-setting clientele. And for good reason !

The Palais Rhoul lies at the heart of the palm grove, about 4 miles from Marrakech on the road to Fez. It takes some 15 minutes by car to get to the centre of Marrakech or to the airport.

With a capacity to accommodate up to 34 people, the Palais Rhoul can be privatised, and rented entirely, for a special occasion. The hotel has also a private parking area offered for free.

A true institution in Marrakech, the Palais Rhoul has undergone a roaring success since its opening in 1994. It must be said that this institution has a special magic, first portrayed in its amazing Morrocan architecture. Modelled as a replica of the palace of the Roman consuls, the hotel is actually nestled in a building in the form of an arc with a very high ceiling, supported by 180 stone columns and opened widely onto the outside by large bay windows. At the center of the building you will find the main lounge, decorated with masterful paintings, beautiful antiquity items, Art Deco chandeliers, an eastern basin covered with rose petals ... It extends onto a perfectly round swimming pool as well as a large rotunda topped by a dome. In the garden spreading over 9 acres, great for relaxation and meditation and abounding in orange trees, hibiscus and jacaranda, you will also find a hammam, designed in pure oriental tradition. Like the restaurant, it is open to people who are not guests at the hotel only upon reservation.

The Palais Rhoul comprises 6 rooms and 6 suites, organised in circular form around the swimming pool. Half of them directly overlook the pool, a very desired location. The rest, located on the lower level, are facing the garden. They all have refined but different decoration, offering a harmonious blend of European and oriental styles. The comfort is optimal: air conditioning, a mini-bar, direct dial telephone, a safe, a king-size bed, CD player ... The service is worthy of 5 stars. Fruits and flowers are picked each day and placed in all rooms. From only recently, the hotel now also offers 4 new suites installed in the gardens in large Berber tents. Very luxurious, these original dwellings do not lack style with their fireplace, the spacious Moroccan living room and the bathroom opening out onto the outdoors. Note that all suites are equipped with a massage table for treatments "at home ".

The Palais Rhoul doesn't have a dining room but proposes a typically Moroccan cuisine, couscous and tajines in particular, served at the customer's request: under the rotunda for more romance, in the rooms for total privacy, in the gardens if the weather permits, in the lounges to enjoy the setting... Each morning you will be served a breakfast consisting of pancakes, orange juice and mint tea. To discover the Moroccan cuisine, speak to the staff at reception who will be pleased to reserve a table for you in the best restaurants of Marrakech. Note: given its untypical nature, we did not take account of the restaurant service in the overall calculation of the evaluation on this hotel.
