The Meridien Fisherman's Cove is one of the most renowned establishments in the Seychelles. Its modest luxury, within a traditional architecture that perfectly blends with the environment, and its location next to the sea make it an ideal holiday resort for relaxation lovers. Note: it has a pleasant swimming pool overlooking the beach and its diverse infrastructures include a beauty centre and a spa. Free walks are organised nearby with a guide to explain the local history and botany.
Lodging advice
The rooms with a balcony have the best ocean view, but those having a terrace have a small private garden. The Bougainvillea suites can take 2 additional children and are linked.
8/10
The Meridien Fisherman's Cove consists of many buildings with palm roofs scattered in an exotic garden on the edge of the beach. In the middle there is a large, very ventilated hall built from precious wood comprising the salons and the main restaurant. Below, the guests can enjoy a beautiful swimming pool and a second restaurant offering a wonderful sea view. Built in 1943, the oldest hotel in the Seychelles was completely renovated in June 2004. The Cocoloba bar, offering a gorgeous panorama of the ocean, proposes exotic cocktails up to 11:30 pm, and serves snacks throughout the day. You can also savour your last cocktail at the Sunset Pavillon while admiring the sunset on Silhouette island. A tennis court lighted in the evening is found at the end of the hotel, and a spa offers two massage rooms, a whirlpool bath, a cold water pool, a hammam and various beauty treatments, as well as a fitness centre.
8.5/10
The hotel comprises 70 rooms, including 26 suites, decorated in a Creole or contemporary style combining granite walls, teak furniture with palm roofs. You will find adjustable air-conditioning, an electronic safe, a mini-bar with tea and coffee facilities, television with DVD player and 9 channels, and direct telephone line. All rooms, including the standard ones, are very spacious and furnished with a balcony or a private terrace facing the sea. The large bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower opens onto the room, with hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers available, as well as a scale. Room-service runs 24 hours a day.
7.75/10
The hotel has two restaurants. The Cardinal (a local bird), the main restaurant, offers buffet breakfasts and dinners in a large and very ventilated straw hut. Several times a week, Italian, Asian, French, Mediterranian, Creole theme buffets, and barbecues are organised there. The Bourgeois (famous fish in the Seychelles) has a terrace with a gorgeous view of the large beach of Beau Vallon, offering excellent à la carte cuisine, a good blend of local and international specialities. Apart from the usual grilled bourgeois tenderloin, you will be able to savour fish tartar, calamar confit, palm kernel nuts, roasted spiny lobster, sea food brochettes or christophine.
7.75/10
The Fisherman's Cove is located on the southern tip of the large beach of Beau Vallon, surrounded by fine sand and clear water but very busy. From far away you can see Silhouette and North Islands. Deckchairs are available to the hotel's guests. Water sports fans should, however, go to the nearby hotel, the Coral Strand, to enjoy the activities offered by the water sports centre and the diving club. Fresh drinks and tropical fruits are served directly on the beach from 9 am to 4:30 pm. It is supervised and a flag indicates the safety limit for bathing. From November to March, North-West trade winds tend to bring algae to the shoreline.
