La Palmeraie is a hotel of simple comfort and calm atmosphere. Its "kasbah" look represents the very local colour but its lack of maintenance is a strong disappointment.

The Palmeraie hotel is located in Ouarzazate, on the road to the airport. Allow about 5 minutes to get there (Just over a mile).

Built in 1985, the Palmeraie's buildings were originally homes that were converted into a hotel in 1995. Today the hotel covers an area of 3 acres. 6 kasbahs form a kind of small village that is a real sun trap. The buildings are surrounded by patios planted with palm trees, oleanders, hibiscus and pomegranate that could do with being better maintained. The central square is occupied by a pool of 2152 ft² surrounded by a small sun lounge with deckchairs.

The hotel's 136 rooms are decorated in the local style but remain relatively bleak. They offer basic comfort with fittings that are limited to a double bed, air conditioning and a telephone line connected to the switchboard. The only positive point : a large bathroom with a bath tub and a toilet.

Meals are served in the main restaurant, in the form of a buffet. The choice is not very varied and the cuisine does not present any great originality. The recipes remain very simple (salads, pasta, meat with sauce ).
