Review: Ramada Milford Plaza Hotel

A hotel without any attraction or charm. It offers few amenities except clean accommodations and a good geographical location in the heart of Manhattan.

New York Restaurant Week 06/01/2012

Actually, it's almost three weeks! Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the name has not changed since 1992 when the city put on the event to welcome the Democratic National Convention. The culinary extravaganza now covers both lunch and dinner allowing both locals and tourists alike the chance to dine at over 300 of the city's top eateries at a fraction of the normal price. The tariffs are fixed at $24.07

  New York Restaurant Week

At 270 West of 45th Street, at the corner of 8th Avenue. In the area of Midtown West, Theatre district, a block away from Broadway and 3 blocks away from Times Square. The hotel is 16 miles away from La Guardia airport, 17 miles away from JFK, and 16 miles away from Newark. It is located near the subway lines N,R,1,2,3,& 9 (Times Square station).

You will find cash machines and an exchange bureau in the lobby of the hotel, on the ground floor. The facility has 5 non-smoking floors. Only 4 or 5 floors have been renovated. Ask for rooms that do not overlook the street.

6.25/10

A beautiful building with a brick façade, built in 1901, the Milford Plaza has all the outward signs of a quality hotel. The disappointment is big once you enter the facility. The general setting is quite cold and impersonal, like the lobby mezzanine, with its decoration from the 80's. Besides its size - 1300 rooms housed on 27 floors- the Milford Plaza has few facilities and offers the strict minimum of amenities: a shop, a weight lifting room, and a porter service. Here you will find no room-service, no laundry, no business center, no rooms for the handicapped. In short, nothing to draw crowds, but nevertheless correct if you are only looking for clean and well-located accomodations.

As for the rest of the hotel, the rooms do not overflow with charm. The decoration is neutral, in green and pale yellow tones. They are nevertheless comfortable, clean and have a standard range of equipment: television (22 channels), telephone and individual air conditioning. The lack of a minibar and safe ( free at the reception desk) is regrettable, as well as an average soundproofing. The bathrooms, old fashioned with a white tiled floor, have a bathtub but no hair dryer.

5.75/10

The hotel has a restaurant and a bar both managed by independent owners. Both of them offer a decoration without originality and basic American food. They are open from 11 am to midnight.
