Review: Riad Lotus Privilège Hotel
You won't fail to be seduced by the originality of the Riad Lotus Privilege, which resembles more of an Italian palace than a Moroccan riad. A great level of detail and care has been put into this establishment, but if you're after something a bit more traditional, you might be disappointed.
Advantages
- The peaceful surroundings
- The level luxury in the brown-coloured suite
- The originality of the interior and the attention to detail

A few celebrities have stayed at the Riad Privilege Lotus, including a player for Manchester United. Everything has been carefully thought out, down to the most minute detail. If you look carefully, you'll notice that one of the stones in the courtyard is in fact a loudspeaker.

Behind the great brown wooden door there is a huge black and white marble courtyard with a small heated pool, 2 deckchairs, and small lounge areas furnished with marble tables. There is no doubt that music is one of the most important features at this establishment and the staff even wear Bang & Olufsen clothing. Among the riad's sparse facilities you will find a hammam and a massage parlour with a bamboo-style original wooden ceiling. The hammam is true to form with its marble floor and round ceiling. It is also a place where you can listen to music.

With its 5 rooms (3 suites and one deluxe room), the Riad claims to be unique. In the brown-toned suite, you'll be surprised by the ultra modern round fireplace. As in all the other bedrooms, it includes a high tech stereo system, a mini bar, and a safe. It also includes an overhead projector. From your red poster bed, you can enjoy a view of the courtyard through the iron-framed windows. The bathrooms are another original feature of the establishment, as they boast a marble, clock-shaped bathtub, walls covered in small square mirrors, and a 1930's lamp with transparent globes. Each room boasts a tea and coffee tray and an ultra modern stereo system, in addition to a private terrace.

The Riad Lotus Privilege offers creative Moroccan cuisine, and a tasting menu for 500 dirhams (£38) with smoked salmon briouate, ginger-flavoured cappuccino, burbot pastillas, and a tajine with dates and quails. As you enter, you'll be immediately drawn to the small sitting room with a tiger-skin carpet and red and black velvet armchairs, a marked Indian influence, and the magnificent artwork that stands in the middle of the room. You won't fail to be impressed by the yellow cloakroom either.
