On Sainte Anne island, some blocks from the capital, Victoria, to the north-east of Mahé. Travelling from the airport some 3 miles from the wharf of the Sainte Anne Resort and Spa takes 25 minutes including 10 minutes by boat.

The Sainte Anne is located in the middle of the Marine Park, protected since 1973. No engine propelled sports is authorised, a guarantee for great tranquillity for the guests. Therefore, do not expect water ski or jet ski. The hotel covers less than a quarter of the area of the island: the remainder is intact and uninhabited. A free trek is organised with specialised guides, every Monday and Thursday from 9 am. The walk, which lasts 2h30 in total, allows you to discover the feral coast of the south, offering gorgeous panoramas of the islands of the Marine Park. After the passage of millenium granitic blocks, you discover two virgin coves, refuges for sea turtle during the laying season. The hotel also propses glass bottom boat excursions. Do not miss being petted by Clarins at the spa, while your children enjoy the mini club. A free shuttle service links the Sainte Anne to the private pontoon of the hotel at Mahé, from 10 am to 5:30 pm. The crossing lasts 10 minutes.

Lodging advice

The "Bel Air", "Belle Vue" and "Providence" villas are nearest to the beach, while the "Beau Séjour" villas are further away, but also cheaper. Note that the "Belle vue" and "Bel air" villas are adapted to children with 9 connecting sets of rooms. If your building is located near Grande Anse, do not hesitate to take the wooden pontoon which bypasses the Villa Royale in order to reach the swimming pool, the Sans-Souci bar and the Abondance restaurant located in Anse Royale: it is more pleasant than waiting for the electric carts.

8.75/10

The Sainte Anne Resort and Spa consists of 87 private villas located in the middle of a lush vegetation. Opened in 2002, this 5* prestige hotel belongs to the Mauritian Beachcomber Hotel group spreads over one mile on the coastline and is bordered by 3 different beaches. Near the Sans-Soucis bar and the beach of Anse royale, a superb swimming pool of 8,610 ft² by 4 ft deep, furnished with a kid's pool in the middle of a tropical garden. At night the lighting creates a truly enchanting atmosphere. We reach the beach of Grande Anse by passing through a gorgeous pontoon which bypasses the Villa Royale. An electric cart links the rooms and the diverse parts of the hotel. The spa by Clarins consists of 2 hammams, 2 saunas, 3 massage saloons, a beauty saloon and balneotherapy and manicure cares. The cardio-fitness hall and gym are opened from 7 am to 7 pm.

9/10

The 87 villas harmoniously disseminated in the large tropical garden are never too far from the beach. They consist of 4 "Belle Vue" villas, 3 "Bel Air", 19 "Beau Séjour" and 60 "Providence" villas, not leaving out the Villa Royale. All equipped with a king size bed, satellite télévision offering 16 channels and DVD player, mini-bar fridge with tea and coffee kit, telephone with fax and Internet and another in the toilets, individual air-conditioning with ceiling fan and a big terrace facing the garden. The beach is only some 33 feet away. The bathroom is large and equipped with double basins, a big bathtub, a separate shower, and the icing on the cake, an external shower, to wash under the stars ou coconut trees: a real pleasure... and quite practical to rinse yourself after coming back from the beach and to avoid sand to the room! Of course, welcome products and hairdryer, flipflops and dressing gowns are furnished. The toilets are separate. Moreover you will have small welcomed treats like a plate of macarons and other delicacies changed everyday. Room-service available around the clock.
A majordome is available 24 hours a day in the Villa Royale, located on a rocky promontory between Anse Royale and Grande Anse, that can accommodate up to 6 persons and has a private swimming pool.

9/10

Built on stilts, Le Mont Fleuri, a Mediterranian gastronomic restaurant decorated with exotic wood, is one of the best tables in the Seychelles. A bit on the outskirts to the end of the beach of Grande Anse and opposite Victoria bay, it offers elaborate à la carte dishes for dinner, upon reservation. Dress elegantly. Buffet breakfasts, à la carte lunch and buffet dinners are served at L'Abondance restaurant, overhanging the beach of Anse Royale and the swimming pool, with various themes: Mediterranian, Creole, international or fishermen. It will be difficult for you to resist the treats prepared by the pastry cook, who proved his worth at Alain Ducasse's. In the evening, an orchestra performs show to the sound of jazz, "country" music and French varieties at L'Abondance. The Sans-Souci bar, overlooking the beach of Anse Royale, defends its title well: It serves all the tropical drinks that you wish and even more. Another bar is located directly on the beach of Grande Anse.

8.5/10

Not less than three fine and white sand beaches, extremely magnificent, surround the Sainte Anne, their different location ensure that two of them are never affected by the algae problem. Owing to this, the beach of Grande Anse in the north is closed from the end of October to the end of April because of algae landing on it, when that of Anse Tortue, located in the south, close for the 6 remaining months of the year. Open the whole year, Anse Royale is located near the swimming pool, with a shaded beach. Numerous plastic deckchairs, hammocks and showers are spread on the different beaches. Deckchairs fitted around the swimming pool are in wood and equipped with mattresses. There are no parasols on the beaches but trees play the role of natural cover. The bar on teh beach proposes to drink your best cocktails directly on your deckchairs. Sportsmen could use pedal boats, kayak, surfing board and sailboat, available at the water sports club for free, and open from 9 am to 5 pm. Glass bottom boat excursions and tours on boats for free diving are also organised. Only bottle diving and big game fishing are not free. Note, sea turtles lay their eggs on the hotel's beaches from November to December.
