Review: Skyline Hotel
Don't be fooled by the name of the hotel, the Skyline only has 4 floors and does not offer, as the name might lead you to believe, a great view of the New york river front. You will nevertheless find adequate accommodation, a pleasant environment and warm hospitality.
Advantages
- The size of the rooms.
- The swimming pool.
Disadvantages
- The lack of charm.
- The environment.
- The motel-style decoration.
- The soundproofing of the rooms.
Price and availability of the Hotel
At 725 - 10th Avenue, at the corner of 49th street. In the area of Midtown West, three blocks away from Broadway and one block away from the " Sea-Air-Space Museum." The hotel is 15.5 miles away from La Guardia airport, 15 miles away from JFK, and 15.5 miles away from Newark. It is located near the subway stations C, E, 1 & 9.
The hotel has a cash machine on the ground floor. It has a pretty, covered swimming pool, but it is often made available to neighbouring schools during the day, unfortunately. Prefer rooms that do not overlook 10th Avenue.
6.75/10
Renovated in 2000, the Skyline houses 230 rooms in a series of four-floor buildings built in the 60's. It is located on 10th Avenue, a street lacking charm, with a lot of traffic. Its decoration and configuration evoke, more or less, a motel environment, but with comfort and amenities of much better quality. The Skyline has a pleasant bar, an Italian restaurant, a swimming pool, a shop, and a porter service (excursion, location, theater tickets, outings.) It is clean and relatively well-located, but its surroundings lack charm and especially quietness.
6.75/10
Large, about 35 m², the rooms of the Skyline offer a neutral environment without originality: green carpet, pink walls, common furniture. The state of the rooms and the level of cleanliness are impeccable, and the amenities very adequate: cable television (17 channels, one free movie channel, Nintendo and Internet), safe and telephone. The bathrooms are also large and have bathtubs, but average decoration and few products.
6.75/10
The restaurant overlooking 10th Street is very friendly and has a pretty decoration. It is divided in two parts, with an American pub in the front. It is open from 6:30 to midnight, and serves, among other things, a choice of pastas and pizzas.
