- Bar and Café open 24/7
- The bungalows on stilts are magnificent
- The largest spa and biggest pool of the Maldives
- Various areas dedicated to sports
Disadvantages
- The lack of cleanliness in the rooms
- The cheesy decoration
Price and availability of the Hotel
The hotel belongs to the Villa Hotels chain. Here, it is the same time zone as in Malé. The hotel operates as all-inclusive. You can rent bikes (3 dollars per day and per person) to cruise around the island, which is 1 mile long, might as well say that you will see here the longest white sandy beaches in the Maldives. A doctor is available on the island.
Underwater diving:
Classes are provided in English by the Little Mermaid Center for all levels, using the PADI method. The coral reef is 984 feet from the beach: access only by boat (for a fee). 51 underwater diving sites are locate approximately 1 hour away, famous for their whale sharks and rays.

Built in 1998, the Sun Island is a large building consisting of 426 rooms, with single-story buildings. The bungalows on piers form a magnificent decor, enligtened during the night, bordered by turquoise water, where you can admire the sharks and manta rays in the evening when the staff members feed them (around 7pm). The hotel has the largest swimming pool in the Maldives with a separate pool for children. The spa is also the largest in the archipelago, with 12 treatment rooms, in the heart of a flowering garden with fountains, whirlpool bath and sauna. Musical entertainment is provided every evening (dancing evenings, musicians, karaoke). There are all kinds of sports activities: basketball, volleyball, tennis, ping-pong, badminton, squash, cycling, billiards, electronic games, fitness room, aerobics... as well as a beauty salon and sports boutiques (a multitude!).

The hotel houses 60 deluxe rooms of 215 square feet, 218 superior deluxe rooms of 269 square feet grouped into single-story units of 2 to 4 rooms, 64 rooms of 333 square feet located on piers, distributed throughout 32 bungalows. The deluxe rooms have a view onto the beach, protected by some trees and are equipped with air conditioning, external shower, television and fitted-out terrace. The problem is that the air conditioning and the fan are turned off when there is no one in the room. The superior deluxe rooms have a bathtub and an outside shower. The deluxe and superior deluxe rooms have lively and clear colors with simple decor. The bungalows on piers also have a solarium. There are also four presidential suites of 2,648 square feet. All the rooms have air conditioning, a fan, a mini bar, a safe and a direct telephone line for international calling. Our complaint about the rooms is their lack of cleanliness (some rooms smell of cigarettes) and their decoration is slightly tasteless, especially in the bungalows on piers. Beach towels are available for clients.

The Le Maaniyaa restaurant proposes buffets for the full board. On the menu: Asian or Italian specialties, grilling and cafeteria... With regard to the hotel's capacity, you would suspect that the restaurant is impersonal... Clients in the bungalows on piers can take their meals at the Southern Bar. A Thai restaurant is situated on piers behind the bungalows, at the end of the pontoon. An Italian restaurant is also expecting you for dinner near the Marina. This restaurant has a panoramic terrace facing the ocean. It is very pleasant, intimate and the food is good there. In all the hotel's restaurants (except the Maaniyaa), you will enjoy a 20% reduction with Kuoni. Eight bars welcome you, of which four with the Coffee Shop are open 24/7. You can then eat any time you want.

The beach is thus the largest of the Maldives. It is beautiful. The sand is white and relatively fine. There are no rocks in the water. Deckchairs with mattresses are set up in front of the rooms. There is a variety of water sports: underwater diving, snorkeling, water skiing, jet skiing, windsurfing, catamaran, canoeing, banana boat...
