Review: Villa Belle Hotel

The Villa Belle is a charming, luxury establishment that offers intimacy and resembles no other hotel. It is a small establishment run by a very friendly couple who have done all the work themselves and created this charming hotel, intended for couples looking for peace and comfort in an artistic setting where works of art are omnipresent.

This beautiful house and its surrounding garden lie beyond a nondescript gate. You will enter into the reception area that sometimes serves as a lounge area and dining room when the weather is cold (which is seldom the case)! Everything here is beautiful: the floor, the objects, and the paintings. You will feel as if you're staying in an art gallery, with a surprising variety of materials, shapes and colours. In the first garden you will find a veranda that houses a sofa, some armchairs and a couple of tables set out in a tasteful setting. This is where breakfast and lunch are served and it makes an ideal place to relax and leaf through a magazine.
Beyond this lies a second garden, with flower beds surrounding the swimming pool. The terrace isn't all that huge but then again there are only three rooms! In the second garden there is also a jacuzzi, a hammock in the shade and a few deck chairs. If you book a session in the jacuzzi, you get a courtesy cocktail. The rooms and the common areas are on either side of the house and the latter give onto a small, peaceful garden area in the shade provided by trees.

The 3 rooms are spacious (540 sq ft) and have high ceilings, parquet flooring, lighting suited to every atmosphere and chic and original furniture. The interior is made to be as comfortable as possible, with a touch of luxury! They include a well-equipped kitchen with a blender, a stove, an oven and everything you need to cook your own breakfast, lunch, dinner and other quick snacks. The rooms are tastefully decorated and will immediately make you feel at home. As for the 'refreshing' bathrooms, they will encourage you to relax and take care of yourself. They have waxed concrete floors, a shower large enough to fit a crowd and a well-stocked toiletry bag (it even includes a pair of tweezers!). In addition to the dream decor, you are sure to appreciate the CD player, the television, and the mobile phone if you need it.
The Rajasthan suite is the perfect place for couples, with its Indian woodwork, jacuzzi and indoor courtyard and sauna! Indeed, it is a little haven of peace and serenity that will make for an enchanting honeymoon.

The restaurant has neither the look nor the style of a restaurant. You will once again feel at home here; there are no breakfast or brunch hours, you just have it when you wake up, and given the choice of food, you will gladly skip lunch (which is good as no lunch is served). For breakfast the choice includes cakes, cheese, meat, pastries, fresh fruit juice and expresso coffee, and the quality is of the highest level. It is the kind of breakfast that you can enjoy for hours on end...
In the evening and for Sunday lunch, The Villa Belle offers the opportunity to taste French gourmet cuisine. Prepared with love, the dishes display local market products purchased that very morning and a blend of local delicacies and modern cuisine is elegantly presented in a refreshing and chic setting. With the jazz music accompaniment, the candles and the white tablecloths, this is an ultimately romantic place.
At the risk of bursting your bubble of romance by mentioning prices, you should know that the half-board option is only ¤55 but that the drinks, snacks and wine are included in the price.
Meals are served beneath the veranda (that looks out onto the garden), with its white and black tiles, paintings hanging on the walls and comfortable sofas that make you feel like you're in a sort of outdoor lounge. It is a real delight to relax in this airy place and enjoy your meal!

A walk of a quarter of an hour will take you to the beach. It's downhill all the way, so the climb back to the hotel might be a bit more arduous. Saint Pierre's beach and its lagoon are nice but not outstanding. The place is quite crowded on the weekend and it can be difficult to find enough room to place your towel.
