Review: Villa Morgane Hotel
The Villa Morgan is a small village establishment; it only has 6 rooms and is full of charm. Despite the fact that children are not welcome, it manages to have a family atmosphere about it. Couples will find that it is the perfect place for a romantic get-away where all their needs are catered for. The only real snag is the proximity to the road, but it won't disturb your sleep at night so don't worry. What's more, the Buddha will keep a watchful eye on you!

Children are not exactly forbidden here, but they are not exactly welcome either, the idea being that couples come to relax here and take advantage of the peace and quiet to enjoy a romantic stay and long lie-ins. In any case, given the small size of the villa, a wailing child would wake everyone up.

The hotel is particularly charming and looks like a typical Creole house. It includes a small courtyard, with a swimming-pool and a jacuzzi; simply charming. There are a few wooden recliners and a small shaded area with tables and chairs, and overlooking this garden of Eden is a white wooden terrace with a bar. Sit on a sofa in the shade and enjoy a glass of planteur rum prepared by the owner, or peacefully read your book without being disturbed by the noise from the road: you will definitely appreciate this verdant setting in the middle of the city. In addition to its pretty courtyard, the hotel also has a small green alley that leads to the rooms, a gym, which is quite narrow but relatively well-equipped and a massage parlour with relaxation facilities. The massage parlour, for which you must have a reservation, is run by a physiotherapist who specialises in relaxation techniques such as sophrology and who will not hesitate to place you in a cocoon filled with salt water heated to 37° to recreate the Dead Sea. The physiotherapist also works with a big inflatable balloon, ground-level massages with oils that you choose at random (but which are suitable for you) and relaxing music. The techniques combine mind and body treatments designed to make you feel better. This calm masseur, endowed with the hands of an angel as all his customers will agree, will take you to a Zen-like' paradise...

The hotel includes 3 rooms and 5 suites. Whilest the rooms are reasonably sized and decorated with taste and originality, the suites are simply amazing. The interior decor has been created with the finest materials from all four corners of the world and the paintings adorning the walls have been done by artists who have come specifically to recreate a typically Renaissance scene, the 'Venus emerging from the water', and find the perfect tone for the walls, reminiscent of that same era. This impressive work was directed with enthusiasm by the manager of the hotel. He could have got away with a lot less, but that is evidently not his style! The suites are huge and offer a very particular atmosphere that will delight history and art enthusiasts. Many periods are represented, be it the Renaissance era, the colonial era, Botticelli, ancient Rome, or the romantic period. The choice is yours for a trip back in time! For those who'd rather opt for the rooms, you should note that there is not much point in the Little Venice rooms, but that the Yin and Yang rooms with their ethnic decoration, warm colours and small terrace, offer a pleasant ethnic setting. A varied use is made of materials in this room (such as the slate in the bathroom and the parquet floors), and of objects, such as the many Buddha statues brought back from travelling. You will even find art works in the shower! The suites have a spacious bathroom, with a corner bath, from which you can enjoy paintings and objects of art in peace. The amenities include a minibar, a kettle, a DVD player, a safe, dressing-gowns, a flat-screen television, a hair-dryer and hospitality products. In fact, financial realities quickly sink in when you try to create the perfect establishment; this is the reason why guests sometimes find themselves faced with contradictions. A DVD player but no shampoo for example, luxurious materials from far-flung countries but no hair-dryer, etc... it's quite incomprehensible! However, it is obvious that the good intentions are there and that is what makes a stay here so enjoyable. Finally, if there are two things that the most demanding guests should know: one is that the beds are hard, very hard and it is sometimes difficult to walk around the beds, even in the suites; and two, is that some of the rooms don't even have a bedside table.

Breakfast is served in a white room, that lacks a little in terms of lighting, but that provides a gentle awakening with the sound of water in the backgroung running down a large mirror, surrounded by lush green vegetation. The setting has been created with taste, which is the case too for the buffet which proposes home-made pastries and cakes with fresh fruit.
In the evening, the hotel joins forces with the restaurant on the other side of the road, where the resident chef previously worked for some of the finest restaurants and most demanding gourmets. The dishes on offer display a mix of local products and French cuisine. We particularly recommend the toothfish, the ostrich and the many other meats and fish listed in the menu. Alternatively, you can try one of the two meals offered to half-board guests. In fact, the establishment offers great value for your money if you choose the half-board option. You get a starter, a main course and a dessert for only ¤25 and you can be sure that you won't find anything better in the area.
The closest beach is the village beach. However, it is small and not very well equipped, so you should consider the 10-minute walk to get to St Pierre's beach where you can relax in the sand. It is quite busy but it has showers. Despite the shallow water, it is a very nice place to enjoy a swim.
