Streymoy Island can be discovered by foot. Warm up with a relatively undemanding walk in the south: from Oyrabakka to Leirvik is 7.5 miles. Islanders walk it in two hours, but it will take you about four hours if you are not used to climbing slippery slopes... The walk leads the way to spectacular views and allows you to discover a treasure trove of lakes, waterfalls and basalt creeks. You will eventually be rewarded with breathtaking views over the final slope that leads to the village of Leirvik.
