The small town of Kerimäki, in the east of the country, has the world's biggest wooden church with 3,400 seats! Equipped with excellent acoustics, you can listen to grandiose concerts during the Savonlinna Opera Festival. Legend has it that in 1847, during its construction, workers used to confuse the auna (Swedish measure) with the meter. The church is open all summer between 10:00 am and 5:00 ? 6:00 pm. Located 14 miles northeast of Savonlinna, Kerimäki has a wide choice of quality housing in a calm environment.
