History

American Airlines came into existence in 1926, offering flights between Chicago and St Louis.

Officially founded in 1930, American Airways welcomed aboard its billionth passenger in 1991. The airline owns a fleet of about 800 aircraft including Boeing 767 and 777.

The airline serves over 250 destinations in America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.

Alliances

American Airlines was the founder of the Oneworld alliance, which comprises a dozen companies and serves over 675 destinations worldwide.

Members of the Oneworld network include major airlines such as British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Malev, Qantas and Royal Jordanian.
