Alliances

Having narrowly avoided being taken over by Germany's Lufthansa on several occasions, Swiss Air attempted to join the Oneworld alliance led by British Airways in 2004, without success.

In 2005, the directors of Swiss Air and Lufthansa finally reached an agreement on the acquisition of the Swiss company, which enabled it to join the Star Alliance in 2006. The takeover took place on 21 June 2007.

Customer services on board

Swiss Air’s loyalty program, Swiss TravelClub, was integrated into Lufthansa’s program 'Miles & More' in 2006. Air miles can be exchanged for free flights, upgrades or other services.

Swiss Air advocates typically Swiss values such as hospitality, personalised service and attention to detail, ensuring that passengers feel at home on board. The crew speaks several languages including French and English.

Swiss Air offers a range of free services to its passengers, including online check-in with seat selection, excess baggage allowance, catering, and on-board entertainment on individual screens.

SWISS is committed to environmental protection and has implemented procedures to reduce the fuel consumption of its aircraft and CO2 emissions. More information is available on the airline’s website.
