History

Vueling is a Spanish airline company established in 2004, when they launched their first Vueling flight between Barcelona and Ibiza. This low cost airline company has its headquarters at Barcelona-El Prat Airport, 50 odd kilometres from the city centre.
The Vueling fleet consists of 90 aircrafts (Airbus A319-100 and A320-200) which mainly serve destinations in Europe. More specifically, the Vueling route map connects destinations in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands and Belgium. The majority of Vueling flights are destined for Spanish cities. Nevertheless, this low cost airline also operates flights to Africa and the Middle East. In total, it offers 200 routes and has 17 bases, but only 4 of these are situated outside the Spanish realm.
In 2008, Vueling and lost cost Iberian airline Clickair announced plans to merge. The merge took place at the beginning of 2009. This strategic decision was designed to counter rising oil prices, and create an alliance better armed to fight against rival airlines Ryanair and Easyjet.

Customers are also encouraged to make use of the Vueling online check in service to avoid long queues at the airport. This service is free and passengers once checked in passengers can either print their Vueling boarding pass or save it on their smartphone.
Following the Vueling baggage allowance directions items of hand luggage must not surpass 55x40x20cm or 10kg, and the maximum weight for hold luggage is 23kg. Overweight bags will incur an extra charge of euros35 per bag per flight.
