Travel is my driving force in life, and although I have had the privilege of visiting 30 countries so far, my heart will always remain in India...
?Far', Breton cake, and 'kouign aman' Just like biscuits, these Breton pastries are certainly something to avoid if you're watching your figure. © Desgrieux - age fotostock
'Far': ?Far' is a sort of pancake dough flavoured with cider dregs and cinnamon and cooked in an oven dish. You can also add raisins or apricots to it should you so wish, although the real 'Far Breton' is made with prunes.
Breton cake: this compact, butter-based cake can be kept for weeks and can also be served with jam or chocolate.
Kouign Aman: flour, butter and sugar - that's all you need to make the king of Breton desserts. It is not very healthy, of course, but that doesn't make it any less of a delight for your taste buds, and it's difficult to resist!
Making Kouign Aman, however, is far from easy. It almost entirely depends on the way in which you fold the dough to obtain the puff pastry layers.
