Originating from rivers which create hemmed in valleys as they flow into estuaries, the marine valleys (called ?Abers' in Léon and ?Rias' in the south) are the biotope for cockles, marsh worms, razor shells, etc. Numerous fish species also thrive in this environment. The rias of Ethel is particularly interesting.
