Ajaccio is not the sort of place to go to for a short stay. That said, you only need to drive a few miles out of the city towards the south or the north to find hotels with beautiful beaches. We have therefore selected three "spots" on the outskirts of Ajaccio: Porticcio, Cargèse and the road of the Sanguinary islands. Porticcio is located across the bay of Ajaccio. It is seaside resort of little charm with predominantly concrete buildings, a number of campsites and a lot of wildlife in the summer. To the north of Ajaccio, the port of Cargèse is more attractive and it is our favorite site despite its distance from Ajaccio. Finally, the road of the Sanguinary islands, west of the city, has many hotel resorts of varying quality. The centre of Ajaccio is definitely a ?must-see', as it boasts the kind of beautiful places that you would only expect from the Mediterranean. There are also several historic sites here, including the Imperial Chapel built in the 19th century (which contains the tombs of the Bonaparte family), and the Bonaparte mansion. Ajaccio is a place which caters for everyone: museum enthusiasts will love the museums here, which are rich in paintings, furniture and artifacts; and diving enthusiasts will find all the diving clubs and underwater spots necessary to satisfy their passion.

cons

The beacj=hes are not very beautiful unless you travel at least 9 miles further out.
As everywhere in Corsica, the cost of living is expensive.
There are not enough hotel beds to accomodate everyone in the summer.
