Inhabited since prehistoric times, capital of vines and vineyards since antiquity, and witness to the Cathar saga in the Middle Ages, the city of Béziers knows all about pomp and circumstance.
Lulled by the fine climate of the nearby Mediterranean, the local population keep their rich festive traditions very much alive, especially at the 'ferias' and rugby matches.
