The Monts d'Arrée mountain range The Monts d'Arrée mountain range lies at the heart of the Armorique Regional Nature Park and splits the Finistère region in two. MATTES RENE
Stretching over 17,300 acres, Paimpont Forest is a part of what remains of the primeval Brocéliande. In the low-lying forest in the east you will find numerous ponds and in the high-lying forest in the west you will find a number of glens. The centre of the massif, where the wetland valleys are, is covered with oaks and beeches, together with birches, holly and rowan trees. In the more arid zones clear of trees, heather, broom and gorse bushes dominate the land. To take a walk around Brocéliande Forest is to witness an enchanting place. The beautiful landscape is responsible for all the legends and myths which have taken place in this almost supernatural place. The landscape is complex here as it mixes visual perceptions with sensory ones.
