Located on the east borders, château de Josselin is one of the three most beautiful châteaux in Brittany.Its building began around the year 1000 and Josselin later became a fortress. In the 16th century, the dukes of Rohan progressively improved the château and made it more comfortable. Its beauty is the result of the fact that the château de Josselin seems to have miraculously escaped from the wearing effects of time and historical troubles (religious wars, the revolution, and the war of 39 ? 45). The only major architectural modification was made by Richelieu who had four of the eight towers of this gem pulled down.

On arriving at the château, a pause on Sainte-Croix Bridge will make you realise the full force, power and beauty of the building. A visit inside reveals the elegance of the flamboyant Gothic-style architecture.
