Thanks to the market garden areas which produce high quality fruit and vegetables, Brittany is one of France's leading agricultural regions.
The Saint-Méloir area, which is very fertile, is reputed for its garlic, carrots and asparagus, whilst the ?golden belt' in Léonard, with its great market garden tradition, produces pink Roscoff onions, cauliflower, artichoke and Iroise potatoes.
