As the administrative headquarters of the Essonne region, this new town embodies all the urban and architectural designs of the latter half of the 20th Century. The Place des Droits de l'Homme is home to the town hall and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, both of which are examples of the public architecture of the last century, whilst the Cathédrale de la Résurrection, consecrated in 1996, is the most recent cathedral in France.
