Fine Arts Museum of Rennes

Fine Arts Museum of Rennes

The Fine Arts Museum houses famous canvas paintings which retrace a great majority of the history of painting.

Thanks to the Lucas bequest of seven paintings in 1894, the museum began its collection with Italian primitive art.

The collections largely highlight the 17th century, however the 16th century is also represented, by the school of Venice, in particular. The museum recently acquired a 'Sainte Cécile' by the Italian Girolamo Scaglia. You can also admire the famous ?Nativité' (Nativity) by Georges de la Tour, 'Saint Luc' by Heemskerck or works from foreign Higher Education Institutions in France from the 16th and 17th centuries (Rubens, Del Po and Giaquinto).
