Kernascléden Church Fragments of frescoes, some depicting hell, can still be seen on the ancient walls of the Kernascléden Chruch EasyVoyage ©
From 1420 to 1464, it took only 44 years to build this church. Financed, for the greater part, by the Rohan Counts, Kernascléden Church presents an architectural richness and elegance which makes it one of the most beautiful churches in Brittany.
From the outside, you can admire the elegant church tower which stretches up to the sky and the large rose window which decorates the façade between the two portals (one reserved for men, the other for women), the porches of which are decorated with the statues of the twelve apostles.
Inside, the conservation of the frescoes (some of them represent the life of the Virgin Mary, others the Passion of the Christ) is exceptional. One of the frescoes, situated in the southern wing of the church, stages a macabre dance where hell is represented (quite remarkable for its rarity). It is in response to the fresco in the northern wing of the church which represents heaven and angels.
