The colours of Provence have fascinated and inspired countless artists, especially painters. Van Gogh is a name that quickly comes to mind. The artist spent 15 months in Arles and it was precisely at this time that he revolutionised his painting.
Today there is a gallery in Arles in memory of Van Gogh, created by his artist friends.
Cézanne also chose to paint in the region and his studio can be found in Lauves.
