Sand and wind combine at speed in the form of sand-yachting in the safety of the Marck leisure complex.
These bucket-seated three wheeler vehicles, with a mast and sail for propulsion, allow you to criss-cross the long beaches of the Côte d'Opale (Opal Coast).
Marck leisure complex is set in the heart of nature, and it aims to open up the Côte d'Opale coastline to visitors by means of its flagship activity: sand-yachting.
The activity is supervised, so anyone from the age of 9 upwards can take part, regardless of ability. Beginners can take lessons to learn the basic rules of sand-yachting: reading and managing the wind, and studying the contours of the beach. This is followed by a two-hour introductory session (with a qualified instructor) before you can set off to explore on your own in a regular sand yacht.
More experienced sand yachters can take part in a challenge in a sporty sand yacht, completing an endurance program on courses ranging from 2.5 to 10 mi.
The leisure complex hires out sand yachts, but remember that in order to hire one and set off on your own, you must first have completed the two-hour introductory session.
