Travel is my driving force in life, and although I have had the privilege of visiting 30 countries so far, my heart will always remain in India...
Tourism in Toulon Although it may not have as many attractions as its neighbour, Cannes, its numbers of tourists are rising thanks to its seaside location. © Walter Bibikow - age fotostock
Toulon is a large military port on the Mediterranean side (fortified by Vauban in the 17th Century), where the Americans disembarked on 15th August 1944. It is also the birthplace of Raimu, whose singing voice sums up the cheeky humour of Provence. The Provençal way of living here is nibbling on a 'cade' pancake in the shade of the plane trees on cours Lafayette or sipping a pastis in one of the many bars that bring the city to life at night.
