The Ty-Gwechall creperie No visit to Brittany is complete without sampling the famous crepes. Vladimira Dvorakova / age fotostock;
If you say ?Brittany' the answer will always be ?crêpes'. Indeed, it is impossible to take a trip to Brittany without succumbing to the Breton speciality.
However, there are crêpes and there are crêpes.
What with crowds of tourists, many establishments are crêperies by name only.
The same cannot be said of the Ty-Gwechall crêperie, however, where you will enter the world of an authentic crêperie with a capital A. The owner, a traditional crêpe maker, as he likes to call himself, only uses local products and, like any good Breton, is always liberal with the butter. Here, you can sample buckwheat, wheat or black wheat crêpes, and when you see the 'garnished' crêpe on the menu, don't underestimate the word 'garnished' as the portions are very generous!
Despite th generous helpings, few can resist a sweet crêpe for dessert.
The setting is also authentic - a typical 17th Century Breton residence with rustic furniture.
