Bora Bora epitomises all the fantasies of travellers in search of a paradise island. The reputation of the so-called "Pearl of the Pacific" is richly deserved. Indeed, the island offers one of the most striking ocean views you can imagine, and it is difficult to resist this absolutely incredible vision of endless blue that contrasts so markedly with the varied palette of green hues, which dress the jagged relief of the island.
Unfortunately, Bora Bora is now a well known destination and hotels are growing at a rather high pace there, most on the motus (islets) located on the outer belt of the island. Located to the west of Tahiti, Bora Bora whose name means 'first born' in Tahitian, is part of the archipelago.
Due to its small size, you will quickly go around the island by a small coastal road along which you can find some beautiful landscapes and here and remnants of maraes. However, Bora is primarily a destination for hotel stays and honeymoons.
